Women storm U.S. streets in protest against Trump's policies

Protesters gather at the Grand Park for a Women's March against sexual violence and the policies of the Trump administration Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, in Los Angeles.

A protest in NY is among more than 200 such activities planned for the weekend around the world.

She said the conversation among marchers was about women having more of a voice. "Power to the peaceful, power to the people", she added. She now is interested in working for others who are running for office.

Thousands of women in Washington, D.C. and in cities across the USA and world used the day to advocate for women and human rights issues, which protesters argued would face adversity under the new administration.

"People were pretty damn mad last year, and they're pretty damn mad this year", Tamika Mallory, co-president of the Women's March board, told The Associated Press.

In addition to tons of incredible speakers and the overall motivational impact of seeing so many people gather for good, the 2018 Women's March comes with another hopeful beacon: the Women's March signs!

Speakers at the rally before the march spoke about both national and local issues, which was different from previous year when speakers spoke only about national issues.

Three years ago she would have said definitely no. "I think our generation is a little pessimistic because we don't go out and vote in large numbers and we aren't as politically active as we should be, so we really try to tell people that our opinions are worth it and it's really important that we go out and speak our minds". It's being hailed as "a new era in political activism" by organisers of the Women's March.

The Washington rally featured Democratic politicians from neighboring Virginia, including Senator Tim Kaine, who blamed Trump and Republicans for the shutdown of the government on Saturday.

The signs also came out in full force, as women and men used their expertise and wit to show the Trump administration that they're not going to take this continued oppression. Organizers want to register 1 million new voters and get more strong advocates for women's rights into office.

In Rome, Argento addressed the criticism she received once she spoke up about her abuse.

She said if women and others don't take action such as voting and getting involved nothing will change.

Argento was strongly criticised by many Italian media and Italian women for not speaking out earlier and was hounded on Twitter with accusations that she had sought trouble.

Weinstein has apologized for causing "a lot of pain" with "the way I've behaved with colleagues in the past", but he has denied "any allegations of non-consensual sex".

The March was marked by many women wearing pink knit "pussy hats", an enduring symbol of last year's Women's March and the rebuke of Trump.
