Ghana asks Federation Internationale de Football Association to consider replay of Uganda World Cup qualifier

Uganda takes on Ghana Tomorrow

Hosts Uganda and the Black Stars of Ghana had to settle for a goalless draw in their 2018 World Cup qualifier at the Mandela National Stadium in Namboole yesterday, a result which takes their qualification hopes out of their hands.

Following Asamoah Gyan calling for a protest from the Black Stars, the Ghanian FA have filed a complaint to Federation Internationale de Football Association about the performance of South African referee Daniel Bennett.

"Mr Bennett and (his) assistants denied Ghana a flawless goal in the 93rd minute with television replays showing that it was a ideal goal".

The 94th minute of the game came with some great news to Asamoah's teammates: Dwamena scored the most awaited goal but.it was refused by the referee, Daniel Bennett. "The referee also denied Ghana a penalty earlier in the second-half when Ghana midfielder Frank Acheampong was brought down in the box", the statement added.

Ghana is now third in Group E with five points but seems to be a team that has potential to fight for that World Cup spot.

Ghana's striker Raphael Dwamena expressed his disappointment following his canceled goal in Saturday's 0-0 at Uganda in the fifth fixture of the World Cup qualifier.

Only the top team qualify for the World Cup, a place now occupied by Egypt.

If the Pharaohs of Egypt win tomorrow's game, they will go to 12 points thus qualifying for the World Cup with one game left before completion of group stages. Each group victor will qualify for Russian Federation considering Africa only has 5 teams in the final round.
