Trump voting fraud panel member lamented adding Democrats, 'mainstream' Republicans

NHPR Staff

(The Republican changes to the law in Wisconsin may well have skewed the results there in Trump's favor.) But we do know that, in state after state, Republican legislators made it harder for Democrats to vote. "Trying to slow down the dead people on their way to the polls?" But according to Kobach, such voters committed fraud. And critics reply, "What problem?" His presentation, which is available on the commission's website, argues that local government should foot the bill to run its voters through the federal background check system as a deterrent to voter fraud.

"Poll workers told Veritas operatives that they did not need to live in the state to vote, that they could use a MA driver's license and that they could fill out a form if they had no ID", Scarborough recounted.

So the truth isn't out there? Voter fraud is just a myth? Specifically, the think-tank staffer suggested that they appoint the real experts who work at the Heritage Foundation. Most of the 5,300 questioned votes came from college towns.

He said hackers have myriad ways of attacking voting machines. Add the felons and the non-citizens to the fact that these individuals are overwhelmingly likely to vote Democrat, and there's a very high likelihood that Al Franken would not have cast the 60th vote to enact Obamacare without illegal voting.

That's not an indictment of Al Franken. He needs to consider that prior to all the facts being gathered and pondered in with due process, Kris Kobach, the commission's co-chairman, has published an article stating his personal interpretation of just some of the facts. How did felons get registered to vote in the first place?

"Democrats have always been concerned about voter suppression, but they have long lauded the background check system on guns", Lott said.

- Enact federal legislation that any candidate or person cooperating with a foreign government, in connection with an US election, be prosecuted for treason. "This risks disenfranchising eligible voters and undermining faith in our democracy".

"I have never had any discussions by email or otherwise with General Sessions about the election integrity commission", he said.

Kobach, the Kansas secretary of state, wrote: "It has always been reported, anecdotally, that out-of-staters take advantage of New Hampshire's same-day registration and head to the Granite State to cast fraudulent votes". "There is a legitimate argument to be made that if you are going to live here, you ought to register your vehicle here, and pay taxes here and get a driver's license here", Fergus Cullen, a former chair of the New Hampshire Republican Party in 2007-2008, told Fact Check. That means they now live in the state and intent to stay for a definite period of time. Mark Annotti, a deportation officer at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said he has encountered thousands of immigrants during his service in Boston and Florida and regularly asks them whom they voted for in the latest election.

A commission created by President Donald Trump to investigate his allegations of voter fraud is scheduled to meet in New Hampshire.

That law may be affecting the outcomes of some races. Hassan's margin was slimmer - 1,017 votes out of almost three-quarters of a million cast.

Wisconsin law allows the commission to share voter birthdates, driver's license numbers and Social Security numbers only with police and other state agencies, and the presidential commission doesn't appear to qualify, he said.

Hillsborough County Superior Court Judge Charles Temple listens to arguments on voting laws in Hillsbourouth County Superior Court South in Nashua Monday.

Don't be too quick to blame the Democrats, though - the same-day registration is a law passed by a Republican legislature and signed by a Republican governor.

Some gaps in this system were demonstrated by Project Veritas in January 2012, when it sent reporters wearing hidden cameras to polling stations in New Hampshire-which at that time also did not require voter ID-and used the names of dead people they obtained from local obituaries.

Maybe Americans are a little paranoid about the ballot box. Then again, given the elections we've had going back to Bush v. Gore in 2000, maybe we should be.
