Conte drops hint that he might leave Chelsea and return to Italy

The Chelsea boss signed a new contract in the summer but didn't extend his deal - just increasing his salary after winning the Premier League title.

If you take Antonio Conte at his word, he will one day return to Italy as a manager.

Conte led Chelsea to the title in his first season but was constantly linked with the Inter Milan job having previously managed the national team, Juventus, Siena, Atalanta, Bari and Arezzo after an illustrious playing career.

Both former club Juventus and fellow Serie A giants Inter have been credited with an interest in trying to lure Conte back and the speculation that his stay at Stamford Bridge will not be a long one will not go away.

'Once I have had some more nice experiences I will return to Italy, for sure.

"I have a longing for Italy, that's beyond any doubt", Conte told Radio Anch'io Sport. "I do not know when but that is the goal".

"Foreseeing the future is always hard".

The Blues boss aimed a jibe at English managers, saying: "Are we better than the English?" I want to make some great experiences and move back to Italy afterwards. Today you are here, tomorrow you can be somewhere else.

"I have the will to finish a project and then look for the right continuation".

"The experience in England has enriched me greatly and it has helped me to improve in many ways. I'd also like to work as a sporting director in the future".

"Definitely the English league is very, very hard because there are six sides challenging for it, and this year there are even more big clubs, with the two Manchester clubs back who didn't do so well last year".

Conte believes it will be tough for Chelsea - third this term behind Manchester City and Manchester United after six games - to defend their title.
