Vatican-owned Bambino Gesù hospital offers to take baby Charlie Gard

Donald Trump to grill Theresa May over Charlie Gard in one-on-one meeting

"Minister Alfano also raised the case of Charlie Gard and the Pope's recent offer of treatment in Italy". 'Miracles happen, ' Chiara told Mail Online. "The President is just trying to be helpful if at all possible". They love you and pray everyday for you'.

The prime minister added: "But I also know that no doctor ever wants to be placed in the bad position where they have to take such heartbreaking decisions".

The tot was due to have his life support switched off last week after the family reached the very end of their legal battle, but they have been given more time by doctors at Great Ormond Street. But Charlie's parents, Chris Gard and Connie Yates, want the hospital to release their baby into their custody so they can take him to the United States for an experimental treatment.

Speaking with journalists at the Bambino Gesù Hospital ("Baby Jesus" in English) awaiting to hear a financial report on the 2016 fiscal year, the institution's president, Italian lay woman Mariella Enoc, said that she's spoken with Gard's mother, who relayed the fact that her son wouldn't be allowed to travel.

Protests were held outside Buckingham Palace at the weekend by people demanding the baby be allowed to leave the United Kingdom for experimental treatment that could possibly prolong his life.

The Pontifical Academy for Life and the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales extended prayers for Charlie, the medical staff caring for him and the parents. Charlie has an extremely rare genetic condition that experts agree is incurable.

"In life, there are gray zones", Enoc said.

His lungs can not function without a ventilator and a decision was made by doctors that he is in pain he should be allowed to die.

"There's a chance that someone might be able to help their son, my cousin's baby, and the state have intervened". She said the team was also in touch with USA experts.

'Obviously there have been very, very hard moments, too, due to his illness, but also for other reasons.

He said: "I've seen Charlie constantly, I've seen him every week since he was born, I've been there by the bedside and it's an bad situation to be in". Those words came on Friday, when, on Twitter, he said: "To defend human life, above all when it is wounded by illness, is a duty of love that God entrusts to all men".

"It's this bad, awful situation", she said. She gave birth to her child on August 4, 2016.

The family's local MP, Labour's Seema Malhotra, used PMQs to say that while the chances of the U.S. treatment helping Charlie were low, doctors could say within three months whether he was responding.

Through an emotional campaign, they managed to raise more than one million required to pay for the treatment, which is not offered in the UK. It was announced last week by his parents, Connie Yates and Chris Gard, that the courts had ruled that the condition of the baby was incurable and the only option left is to take his life support.
