Trump renews Twitter attack on London's mayor

US President Donald Trump has condemned his Justice Department over the 'watered down' travel ban

"We stand together tonight to honour the memories of the innocent lives lost and people injured in the barbaric attack on our city".

Hillary Clinton criticized President Donald Trump's handling of the London terror attack while speaking at a fundraiser for the Elijah Cummings Youth Program in Israel on Monday.

Trump had tweeted, "At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is "no reason to be alarmed!"

In a Sunday tweet, Trump mischaracterized Khan's remarks by suggesting the mayor had said there was "no reason to be alarmed" about the attack itself.

Later, the mayor's spokesman said he was too busy to respond to Trump's "ill-informed" tweet.

Khan isn't paying any mind to Trump or his tweets right now because the mayor of London simply has "more important things to do".

"But today US President renewed hostilities, accusing Khan of making a "pathetic excuse" and broadened his attack to include the press, claiming the "[mainstream media] is working hard to sell it!"

Trump said he had spoken with British Prime Minister Theresa May to express America's "unwavering support" and offer USA assistance as the British government works to protect its citizens and bring the guilty to justice.

Labour candidate David Lammy quoted Trump's tweet and criticized his leadership style.

Trump has leapt on the London attacks as evidence of the need for hardline security measures in the United States, including a "ban" on travelers from Muslim countries.

On June 5, Trump doubled down on his criticism of Khan, accusing the London mayor of spinning his rhetoric.

The ex-LBC radio host has appeared on the Fox News channel in the wake of the attack on Saturday night, on a programme that Trump is known to watch religiously.

Trump's tweet drew controversy in the United Kingdom, where lawmakers accused the US president of smearing Khan's stance on terrorism. MSM referred to mainstream media.

Before the origins of the London Bridge attack were even clear, Trump seized on it to promote his order restricting travel from Muslim-majority nations and lament that the Supreme Court is reviewing a "politically correct version". She stopped short of directly criticising the U.S. president.

"It is a reality I'm afraid that London, New York, other major cities around the world have got to be prepared for these sorts of things", he said. British police said they were dealing with "incidents" on London Bridge and nearby Borough Market in the heart of the British capital Saturday, as witnesses reported a vehicle veering off the road and hitting several pedestrians.
