Mother Allows Snake to Bite Baby, Says 'He's Very Harmless'

Hundreds of snakes including some Burmese pythons were found inside an animal control officer's home in Shirley Long Island in 2013

A Florida woman is feeling the heat on social media after allowing a small snake to bite her 1 year-old daughter and then post a video of it to Facebook.

The mother, who has not been named because she has not been formally charged with a crime, said that she doesn't regret provoking the snake to bite her daughter, according to ABC Action News.

Rachel Elizabeth Valverde, a Florida woman who reportedly lives near Naples, Florida came across a giant 12-foot python wrapped tightly around one of her goats.

On Monday, St. Laurent was interviewed by ABC's Tampa affiliate WFTS, and said that she had allowed the snake to bite her infant daughter only because she had let it bite both her and her son multiple times and "it didn't leave a mark".

In a release, the Highlands County Sheriff's Dept. said the probable cause affidavit has been sent to the state's attorney for review.

"St. Laurent said that the interaction...had the desired effect and even though the snake was soon tame enough to be held, [the girl] no longer wished to touch it", the report continues.

She caught a 14-inch, non-venomous red rat snake in a Tupperware container and put it in front of the child. "They just think that I hurt my child intentionally, which, the people that know me know that I would never hurt my children".

The mother also said her child was not hurt, but became scared of the snake's movement.

The unnamed mom has since deleted the video from Facebook, but claims "people are too sensitive".

According to the Highlands county native, her lesson worked.
