Missed opportunities as No. 5 Texas Tech falls to Sam Houston State

Arizona baseball ends season with 9-3 loss to Sam Houston State

In between, Ryan Long had a solo homer in the fourth in a game that ended early Sunday morning after a weather delay during Arizona's 6-5 elimination win in 12 innings against Delaware.

The Bearkats threatened in the bottom of the fourth after a walk and hit batter put two on with only one out.

The Wildcats threatened in the top of the second inning, with runners on the corners and one out.

John McMillon, Jacob Patterson and Parker Mushinski combined for four shutout innings for the Red Raiders, with Mushinski getting his sixth save.

There will be no magical run to Omaha for the Arizona Wildcats this season. "It's nice to be able to get back on the field and get healthy and start swinging the bat well and seeing it well". He singled to center on a 3-1 count to score Matijevic and break the 0-0 tie. But the Bearkats were not done as Clayton Harp greeted reliever Landon Faulkner with an RBI single, followed by Rojas' second double of the inning to make it 8-0. Gardner stepped to the plate next and did exactly what he did in the first inning, taking the first pitch over the right-field wall for a two-run homerun. Kyle Lewis then came up and showed bunt, but pulled back and slashed a double down the left field line to score Gieseke.

Sam Houston State loaded the bases with two outs in the second inning after a double from Robie Rojas and two walks. Hearn proceeded to step on first base to complete the double play and then Wesneski got Cal Stevenson to ground out harmlessly to prevent any further damage. The Blue Hens got to Ming in the eighth and scored two more runs.

Through the first five outs, he had allowed just one run, and it appeared he would get through the second inning with that total intact.

DE struck for two more in the ninth to set up extra innings and Arizona's eventually thrilling win. Aguilera went two innings, allowing one hit and one walk, while striking out two to earn the first win of his Arizona career.
