British Prime Minister says treating London incidents as potential act of terrorism

US President Donald Trump offered his help, tweeting "WE ARE WITH YOU".

The capital's Metropolitan Police said they were also responding to stabbings in Borough Market, not far from the bridge, and in Vauxhaul area, located on the south side of the city, Efe reported.

It also recalled an attack on Westminster Bridge when 52-year-old British Muslim convert Khalid Mahmood rammed his auto into pedestrians before crashing into the barriers surrounding parliament and then stabbing a police officer to death.

London Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident saying, "We are dealing with an incident on #LondonBridge, when we have more information we will update this twitter feed".

London Mayor Sadiq Khan called it "a deliberate and cowardly attack on innocent Londoners".

The attacks come days ahead of a June 8 election and less than two weeks after a suicide bomber killed 22 people at a pop concert by USA singer Ariana Grande in Manchester in northern England.

The BBC says more than one person has been killed. The Manchester bombing was the deadliest attack in Britain since July 2005, when four suicide bombers killed 52 people in coordinated attacks on London transport networks.

Alex Shellum at the Mudlark pub near the scene of the attack said a woman had come into the bar "bleeding heavily from the neck".

Police the hit-and-run have been officially declared a "terrorist incident". I'd say there are about four severely injured people.

Police treated injured on the bridge, buildings in the area were evacuated, and subway stations in the area were shut down.

A third incident at Vauxhall was a stabbing but was unrelated to the terror attacks, police said.

London police are treating injured people on a small street some 500 meters (yards) southwest of London Bridge, where witnesses say pedestrians were hit by a vehicle and police say they are responding to an incident.

Prime Minister Theresa May confirmed the "terrible incident in London" was being treated as "a potential act of terrorism".

Witnesses told the BBC they saw a separate incident at the nearby Borough Market where several men were stabbed.

Soon after, reports started coming in of stabbings at Borough Market, a nearby area full of bars and restaurants surrounding a popular food market. Five people were killed, including the attacker, and at least 40 people were injured.

Of the casualties, he said: "Three of them, yes (were conscious), and one guy was not talking at all, was just, like, down".

Witnesses told Express.co.uk that a white van had appeared to purposeful hit pedestrians on London bridge at 10.08pm.

BBC reporter Holly Jones was at the bridge when the van came through and reported the van veered off the road and into crowds of people.

A taxi driver told the BBC that three men got out of the van with long knives and "went randomly along Borough High Street stabbing people".

Simon went on to explain that the area was "very busy" and there was a lot of people so it was hard to tell what was happening. Later they said that call was not related to the bridge or cafe incidents.

"Then we heard three gunshots, definitely gunshots, and we ran". "It looked to me that the van was aiming for the people". The White House said he had been briefed on the incidents by his national security team.

On Sunday, Grande will be joined by a host of other musicians, including Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Coldplay, for a charity concert in Manchester to raise money for the victims and their families.

MARTIN: And, Frank, we only have a little bit less than a minute left, but this is all coming just a month after three people were killed near Parliament there in London when a vehicle ran over victims.
