Android June security update fixes screen freezing issue for Nexus, Pixel smartphones

Apple launches the

The gist of it is pretty simple.

Up until now, updates to Android have had to go from Google to device manufacturers, who pass it on to network carriers, with each having to modify and tweak it in various ways. "After that, we can't guarantee continued support".

Google generally releases the latest version of Android for its own handsets around September time, but Android Police's editor has information that it could appear roughly a month earlier. It must be noted that the Android O Beta was compatible with the Nexus 5, Nexus 6P and Pixel C. Keep that in mind if you intend to use it as a daily driver.

Leaks these days are confirming more news than official announcements itself, and yet another comes in regard to Google Pixel smartphone that has made quite a stir among the smartphone users. According to the Google, the Freezing issues and the performance problems with the Pixel smartphones will vanish after installing the latest security update. But this one is particularly important because it features the final (level 26) APIs for Android O, meaning that things won't change for developers between now and the consumer release of the OS.

However, it should be noted that major releases like this one are often subject to date changes.

O is expected to be a big update and some of the features mentioned in the last paragraph are actually pretty huge. This will have the same effect of flashing the corresponding factory images, but you will not need to wipe your device. The Android O Developer Preview 3 has been labeled OPP3.170518.006. You can find more details at Android security bulletin.

Starting this month, Google is updating its Android Security Rewards program to increase top payouts for certain vulnerabilities.
