Rajinikanths political aspiration throws TN leaders in a tizzy

Indian Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar, Rajinikanth and Salman Khan pose for

With the buzz surrounding superstar Rajinikanth's possible entry into politics, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Friday downplayed the entire see-sawing development saying he is "unsuitable" for becoming the chief minister of a large state like Tamil Nadu.

Earlier while speaking to fans, Rajini had said that he has no immediate plans to join politics. "I may have come here as a Kannadiga or as a Marathi from Karnataka but you gave me love, support, name, fame and prosperity and you have made me a Tamil".

"When a war came, they came to the rescue of their motherland". I will call you when there's a war. I have lots of work, all of you also have work to do, so go back and start doing it.

Superstar Rajinikanth on Friday told his fans to be ready when the war comes, but for now to focus on their families and profession. But, the system itself is rotten. "We should change the system". "Democracy is rotten. The way people think of democracy has changed drastically", he said.

Summary: COIMBATORE: DMK working president M K Stalin said he was happy to hear superstar Rajinikanth terming him an efficient administrator. Anbumani Ramadoss is also a well educated man with good ideas.

Asserting that he is a "true Tamilian", Rajinikanth said if people ask him to go out of Tamil Nadu, he will only fall in Himalayas and not in any other state. "I have responsibilities and work". I am a Tamil to the core.

"If Jayalalithaa is voted back to power, even God can not save Tamil Nadu", the actor had said then. "Even though I am from Karnataka, still you have accepted me and you have made me into a Tamil".

Questions had often been raised whether "Rajinikanth is a Tamil", he added. I was in Karnataka only for the first 23 years of my life.

The anticipation among his fans in Tamil Nadu is also justified by the frail health of Amma's 92-year-old arch rival M Karunanidhi of the DMK.

Having had his run-ins with the powers that be in the past, the actor has come a long way from his first outburst in 1996 when he said "even God can't save Tamil Nadu" if AIADMK was elected again.

Tamil Nadu has a history of drawing its political leaders from the world of cinema. "They are all there, but the system is affected, isn't it?" the actor asked.
