Prison: Aaron Hernandez elated about acquittal, not suicidal

Hernandez doesn't specifically mention suicide, although the letter was one of three that have been described by officials as suicide notes. And one mentioned a conversation with Hernandez in which the deceased mentioned a "rumor" he heard that if a suspect dies during an open appeal, the conviction will be vacated under MA law - which is in fact true.

State prosecutors are hoping to use the letter to argue that Hernandez's murder conviction should not be vacated in the wake of his suicide, as it would "reward the defendant's conscious, deliberate and voluntary act", according to a court filing. Corrections officers weren't instantly able to open the automatic cell door because Hernandez had "pegged" it - "cardboard had been shoved into the door tracks to prevent the door from opening", the report read.

The release of Hernandez's suicide note comes just a day after the state Department of Correction released more than 100 pages of documents from its investigation into Hernandez's death.

"I did open cell 55 (Hernandez's cell at the time) which is a single cell". One inmate reportedly said that Hernandez asked him to have clean laundry ready for him for the upcoming weekend, as his fiancee and daughter were expected to visit. He was also found with large circular blood marks on both of his feet. There were also a number of drawings on the wall of his cell along with "John 3:16". Below was a bible, opened up to the John 3:16 passage.

About a month after Aaron Hernandez was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison, a correction officer at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in MA visited his cell to check for marks and bruising. "Prison ain't (expletive) to me", he said, according to the report.

On Thursday, the Massachusetts State Police issued an investigative report in order to set the record straight about what happened the day the scandalized National Football League star committed suicide.

Hernandez last was disciplined in October for having another inmate locked in his cell with him. "John 3:16" was also written in blood on the wall of Hernandez's cell No. 57 of the G-2 unit of the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts.

MA detectives released new information in the death of Aaron Hernandez.

In the immediate aftermath of the news of Hernandez's death and the preliminary indication that he had committed suicide, Baez and Hernandez's agent, Brian Murphy, hinted at foul play.

Back in 2015, it was reported that Hernandez's neck tattoo of a five-pointed star was a reference to the Bloods.

"Now that the state authorities have completed and closed their investigation into the death of Aaron, we owe it Aaron and his family to conduct a thorough and independent investigation into this tragic death", Hernandez's lead attorney, Jose Baez, said in a statement obtained by ABC News on Thursday night.

Friends and family attended Aaron Hernandez's funeral on April 24 in his hometown of Bristol, Connecticut.
