Manchester concert bombing victims identified

At least 22 people were killed on Monday night when a bomb went off at a concert by U.S. pop star Ariana Grande in Manchester, northwest England, among them children.

Unlike other recent terror attacks in Europe, in which forged identification has been used to throw off investigators, Abedi's own ID was said to have been located near the scene of Monday's bombing, which killed 22 and is the deadliest in Britain since the 2005 transit attacks that left 52 dead.

Early Wednesday, police said three more men had been arrested "after police executed warrants in South Manchester" - the same area of the city where the suspected suicide bomber is believed to have lived. Four people have been arrested, including the bomber's 23-year-old brother. Under British law, a person can be taken into custody in a terrorism investigation and held up to 14 days without charges.

"We are furious. This is completely unacceptable", a government ministry source said.

Officials are examining Abedi's trips to Libya as they piece together his allegiances and try to foil any new potential threats.

Meanwhile, Ramadan Abedi, who is in Tripoli, Libya, denied his son was linked to militants or the bombing. "This is not us", he told the Associated Press.

British police said the incident, in which more than 50 people were injured, was being treated as a terrorist incident.

Saffie Roussos (8), who was killed in the attack, was described by the headteacher at her school in Preston as a "beautiful little girl".

The head of Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins told reporters: "I think it's very clear that this is a network that we are investigating", told reporters. "We are continuing to work with the national counter-terrorism policing network and United Kingdom intelligence services as part of the response to dealing with the tragic events", he said.

The new developments comes as the terror threat level in England is now at it's highest lever after being raised to "critical" with warnings that another attack may be imminent.

"Salman doesn't belong to any organisation, and I know that he doesn't belong to any, there was nothing hidden, because I had open discussions with him about anything he wanted to understand", Mr Abedi said.

JUDY WOODRUFF: This evening, police in Manchester announced two more arrests.

On Wednesday, French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb told a television interviewer that Abedi had travelled to Syria and had ISIS links.

In taking credit for the attack, the Islamic State claimed a "caliphate soldier managed to place a number of devices among a gathering of crusaders in Manchester, and detonated them".

"There are no military personnel patrolling Manchester but we are therefore able to receive additional armed policing support because of this plan".
